Laura Warner, AIA

Design Partner: Principal Architect / Planner

Inspired by the power of design and collaboration to unite people in improving our world, Laura is passionate about leading our team to design places and spaces that are easy to use, memorable and encourage people to engage with each other. She began her career as an architect and urban planner after receiving her architecture degree from UC Berkeley. As a licensed Architect and founding Design Partner of the firm, her range of design knowledge and strategic problem-solving results in change-making projects and meaningful collaborations.

She is a design advocate for the integration of land uses with transportation and the capacity of place making to increase civic engagement and improve quality of life. With more than 30 years of experience, she’s skilled in helping revitalize and evolve urban areas so they better serve everyone, are sustainable and leverage technological innovations to advantage communities.

In collaboration with the firm’s Engagement Partner, Catherine Smith, she has built the firm’s business through a proven commitment to excellence, integrity and reliability. This includes work with leading agencies, institutions, non-profits and national businesses in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties including: SANDAG, MTS, NCTD, County and City of San Diego, 12 of the cities in the San Diego region, UCSD, Planned Parenthood of San Diego, Brookfield, and HMS Host. When not directly contracting services, the partners have effectively supported large A/E firms for ongoing projects with the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, SANDAG, and the City of San Diego.

Legacy projects Laura has led include: the Pure Water Program – design of the Advanced Water Purification Plant’s campus of buildings including the 53,000 SF Maintenance and Operations Building; the retail masterplan and long-range masterplan for the San Diego International Airport; the Downtown El Cajon Specific Plan and Design Guidelines, a 563 AC redevelopment area; and the City of Oceanside, Transit-oriented Development Study for 7 SPRINTER Station Sites.
